W’wave® has developed its Proof-of-Concept, tests and prototypes in the Centro de Desarrollo de Energías Renovables (CEDER - Soria (Spain).), which belongs to the CIEMAT (Centro de Investigaciones Energéticas, Medioambientales y Tecnológicas).
Step 1: Wind profile modification measurements thanks to WindWave prototypes:
The objective was to measure wind profile modification to validate the results of our Computerized Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools at the “Planta de Ensayos para Pequeños Aerogeneradores III” site (PEPA-III)

An increment of approx. 8% average wind profile was recorded in the virtual rotor area, in line with predicted increases from our CFD tools. Measurement reports and CFD reports can be made available to interested stakeholders.
Step 2: Enhanced Turbine production measurement at “Planta de Ensayos para Pequeños Aerogeneradores – I” (PEPA-I).
The objective was to measure how much more the turbine in the site (an AOC15 50kW) produces with the WindWave prototype.
Due to the high roughness of the terrain at PEPA-I, production estimates from our CFD was lower than what would be expected in a low-roughness terrain (i.e.: PEPA-III). Measurements matched expected performance from CFD tools. Measurement reports and CFD reports can be made available to interested stakeholders.
